Description

The feel and consistency of Grain Flow Forging and maximum playability are combined in the Mizuno MP-53 irons through a CNC milled Pocket Cavity that re-distributes 14g of weight resulting in a higher MOI for more forgiveness, without sacrificing the traditional characteristics of MP irons. A V-Slot CNC Milled Pocket Cavity is incorporated into the 3-7 irons for additional forgiveness, while the 8-pitching wedge irons have a Solid Power Bar cavity that results in improved feel, control, and consistency. Modal Analysis and Harmonic Impact Technology optimize sound and feel for incredible feedback.

PROS
  • PLAYABILITY: A good option for shotmakers—distinct ability to shape shots; high ball flight, particularly in longer irons.
  • ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Forgiveness aplenty with unexpected distance on slight mis-hits; shots hit slightly thin carry well and stay in play.
  • DISTANCE CONTROL: Pure shots generate one-half club extra length.
  • FEEL: Pleasing impact sensation isn't quite the soft, "stick to the face" feel that several testers associate with previous Mizuno irons.
  • LOOK: Thick, beefy look in scoring irons; thinnish topline does a nice job of masking the slightly larger head.

CONS
  • For some testers, this iron leans too much toward game improvement; looks more like a larger cavity back than other Mizuno irons.
